Sarah formerly worked in Radiology at The Nuffield Hospital, Enfield and has a keen interest in sport and complementary therapies. Teresa Powell
Practice Manager Teresa has worked for Mike since 1992. As a successful young athlete, she held the world high jump record at the age 14 and British records at ages 13, 14 and 15. She later went on to a career in complementary therapies and is a qualified massage therapist. Teresa also carries out Food Intolerance/Allergy Testing and has a keen interest in diet, nutrition, homeopathy and herbal remedies. Radhika Sharma BSc (Hons) MCSP HPC ACPIN
Physiotherapist (Neuro-rehabilitation & Paediatrics) 
Radhika graduated from Delhi University, India in 2002 with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree. Prior to immigrating to the UK in 2005 she worked in the specialist field of Neuro-rehabilitation within Apollo Group of hospitals (India's biggest corporate hospital with JCI accreditation) for approx 3.5 yrs, covering the acute phase and rehabilitation. Also she has more than 3 yrs experience in the NHS at senior level working with paediatrics and neurological services. She has extensive experience and a sound knowledge of working with acquired neurological conditions such as strokes and head injuries, as well as progressive neurological conditions such as motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, parkinson's disease and muscular dystrophy. She has a specific interest in managing complex neurological conditions and 24 hr postural management. She has also specialised in paediatric physiotherapy with orthopaedic conditions, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophies, spinal atrophy, infantile hemiplegia etc. She aims to maximise client's independence with individually tailored treatment sessions in the clinic, in the client's home or in nursing/residential homes. | |
Mike Varney MCSP HPC Dip RG & RT
Director & Founder Mike joined the Army in 1965 and became a member of the Army Physical Training Corp. During his army career he trained as a remedial gymnast and developed an interest in musculoskeletal treatment and sports injuries. Mike then joined Tottenham Hotspur in 1975 where he remained for 11 years as principal physiotherapist. During this time he became a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. He was easily recognised when he ran onto the pitch as first team trainer due to long, dark hair and beard! In 1976, Mike started the first of his private physiotherapy clinics which was subsequently followed by two further practices. After leaving Spurs in 1986, a two year spell with Standard Telephone Cables followed. This position was to ensure the health and fitness of the executive board members. A two year contract with Queens Park Rangers Football Club as Consultant Physiotherapist followed. Since then Mike’s physiotherapy career has led to many exciting opportunities having worked with many celebrities and was the physiotherapist on two film productions. Most of Mike’s time is now spent at the Mike Varney Physiotherapy Clinic at Harlow Leisurezone where he specialises in musculoskeletal and sports injuries. Matt Sherlock BSc (Hons) MCSP HPC
Physiotherapist  Matt qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist from Brunel University with a BSc (Hons) in 2006. He has undertaken post graduate training in spinal manipulation, visceral manipulation and ultrasound scanning. He is about to embark on acupuncture study, leading to membership of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapy (AACP). Before joining the clinic he spent a number of years of working in the NHS and has experience working in a wide range of clinical areas including nuerology, community outpatients, orthopaedics, respiratory and surgical. He has a keen interest in musculo-skeletal treatment in conjunction with manual therapy and is currently working towards a Masters Degree in Osteopathy in order to have greater versatility in patient treatement. He is a very enthusiastic martial arts practitioner with a 1st Dan in Aikido, a keen motor cyclist and trains regularly at Harlow Leisurezone. Lisa Corallini BSc (Hons) GSR
Sports Rehabilitation Therapist Lisa started her career in sport when she became a qualified personal trainer and gym instructor specialising in strength and conditioning, followed by a course in sports massage. She then went on to Middlesex University where she studied a degree in Sports Rehabilitation & Injury Prevention, qualifying in 2008 with a 2:1 with honours. Lisa specialises in Sports Rehabilitation at the clinic. She has worked at Cheshunt Football Club, Ware Football Club and now works with Enfield Town Football Club. As an active sports woman, Lisa is a black belt in Taekwondo and a keen horsewoman and was an enthusiastic rugby player for Hertford Ladies. She has an interest in equine rehabilitation, combining the fitness for both horse and rider. Lisa is now undertaking a 4 year part time degree in Phsyiotherapy at Brunel University. | |
